Baja California state authorities are planning to build an elevated road that will connect Tijuanas International Airport with San Ysidros Port of Entry, which would be functional in 2019.
This announcement was made by the State Infrastructure and Urban Development Ministry of Baja California, hoping to start construction on 2018.
According to Mexican news outlet Uniradio, drivers using this new elevated road would have to pay a recovery rate, which would guarantee reduction in traffic of up to 50% when crossing into the U.S., or about 30 minutes less of waiting time to cross the border.
This project is part of a series of related works being done in the city to modernize access points into San Ysidro.
