Tijuana Beach Closed During Spring Break

Due to the current high tides

TIJUANA - Bad news for tourists trying to chill at the beach this Spring break.

Just a few days ago, the head of the Tijuana's Fire Department, Carlos Gopar, stated he will deploy 50 lifeguards to Playas de Tijuana and El Carrizo Dam, a small amount by Spring break standards, but that could help cover the area that has now been reduced due to the current high tides.

"There's a lot of spaces where there's really no sand left, we have a lot of rocks and this will definetly generate a smaller tourist presence than previously expected", said Carlos Gopar Uribe, head of Tijuana's Fire Department to local newspaper FRONTERA, as well as ensuring that despite this, they will continue with their surveillance operation.

4,000 people are expected to visit Playas de Tijuana this Spring break and once the tides go down, more people will be able to settle on the beach, however, Gopar stated that it would be for a short period of time.
