GUERRERO NEGRO, BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR - The rare albino gray whale nicknamed "Gallon of Milk" is back in Baja waters, it was spotted during this season's seventh whale census in the Ojo de Liebre lagoon, where counting whales is performed by the National Protected Areas Committee or CONANP.

There were 2,211 gray whales counted on this year's census, including "Gallon of Milk" and its calf who, unlike its mother, is gray in color.

The Ojo de Liebre lagoon, located in the municipality of Mulegé, Baja California Sur, forms part of the Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve UNESCO World Heritage Site and serves as the winter breeding grounds for the gray whale.

The albino whale hadn't been spotted in the Baja peninsula waters since 2008-2009.
