Governor Marina del Pilar was present at Mexicali CETYS University campus facilities, where she spoke with students to encourage young generations to continue their higher education studies. The governor stated that, in order to build a society, it is imperative to build a foundation through education. She also highlighted the importance of her scholarship program “Con el Corazón por Delante” which is currently supporting over 500 students at CETYS University in Tijuana, Mexicali, and Ensenada.
In front of mothers and fathers, university students held a direct dialogue with Marina del Pilar regarding education policies, which are aimed at taking advantage of the potential of change that the students can contribute to in regards to the development of Baja California and Mexico in the next 28 years.
As such, the participation of university students is essential to develop stages of public policies that address the population growth and its impact in the economic and territorial sectors of Baja California. This, in order to especially benefit Baja Californian children who will face the challenges of a constantly changing society that requires firm foundations and trajectory.
This is why the governor emphasized that the role of the state government is not only to attract big investments, but to steer young talents to occupy the specialized vacancies that are already opening up in the state, through triple helix models that combine the efforts by the government, academia, and the business sector.
“Now more than ever, in these dynamic and changing times, it is necessary to establish a real and constant link between public and private educational institutions with the productive sector,” Ávila Olmeda stated. With this goal, the governor added, several key meetings have been held with industrial sectors to link them with education programs and their specific needs.
Regarding the “Con el Corazón por Delante” scholarship, the state governor emphasized that thanks to it, students have found motivation and a launching platform that steers them to prepare themselves in their respective fields, as well as fostering a sense of responsibility and social reciprocity within them.
Lastly, Marina del Pilar stated that frameworks are being analyzed to increase aid for all students in Baja Californian universities, since investing in higher education is to invest in the future of the knowledge and development of Baja California.
