Have you read the famous book “Los 4 acuerdos” (The Four Agreements) written by Tijuana native Don Miguel Ruiz? It is one of the best-selling books on Amazon and it talks about the four main pillars of Toltec wisdom: 1. Be impeccable with your word, 2. Don't take anything personally, 3. Don't make assumptions, and 4. Always do your best.
The author shared in an interview that he will need a new heart transplant soon. This will be his second heart transplant which makes it even more impressive that his work and philosophy continues to be for a way for all people to live in peace and harmony.
“Eight years passed until I decided I needed a new heart and I applied for a transplant. A lot of tests and evaluations were done until August 2010 when they told me I had been accepted. I was a transplant candidate and I was on a waiting list. By then I was on a wheelchair,” he told San Diego Red in 2016.
On the other hand, in his last public interview he remembered the importance of gratitude and generosity because, otherwise, doors begin to close. For this Tijuana writer, love is the balance between gratitude and generosity and he would like it if everyone had gratitude for what they have received and the gifts this planet has given them.
“Your selfishness closes the doors of those who are generous and want to help you. The same thing happens if you were to help someone and if this person is not grateful, that person is closing the door. Do you see how important it is to be generous and be grateful?”
He said that he was grateful for having the opportunity of being able to reach his audience and tell them about the experiences he has lived. He claimed that this may be his last conference, since he will have his operation soon. He may do something similar in a year or two.
“Thank you very much for being with us, for receiving what we have offered you. The only thing I ask you is to keep reading…”
