Starting next Monday, hotels and restaurants in Baja California will be able to operate at 100% of their capacity, informed this morning the head of the Secretariat of Health, Alonso Perez Rico.

This authorization is given after an analysis of the 43 epidemiological follow-up indicators by COVID-19, among which are the incidence rate and hospital occupancy, the latter currently standing at 7.5% in the state, commented the Secretary.

Thus, by instructions of the authorities of the entity and after meeting with the head of the Ministry of Sustainable Economy and Tourism, Mario Escobedo Carignan, it was agreed to increase said capacity while maintaining and verifying the hygiene and safety measures.

It is worth mentioning that this was approved, even though it is foreseen that for the following week the entity will continue in yellow traffic light.

"We foresee that for the following week we will continue in yellow, precisely because of the care we have to take due to the large agglomerations, but we will be reviewing many activities and capacity", said Perez Rico.

For his part, Escobedo commented that this request was made in a responsible manner, since "we have thousands of businesses that are waiting for this Easter Week to reactivate, to begin to comply with all the commitments after months of being closed, so that is why even though we will continue in yellow traffic light, this Easter Week will be a test for the tourism sector".
