Baja California reaches 29 thousand coronavirus infections

More than 12 thousand of these positive cases belong to Mexicali

Currently one person with COVID-19 in Baja California can infect two others, so authorities are asking the population to reduce mobility, continue with preventive measures and above all to step out only for essential activities.

This Tuesday the state reached 29 thousand and 18 confirmed cases of coronavirus, positioning its municipalities as follows: 12 thousand 703 in Mexicali (193 new cases), 9 thousand 354 in Tijuana (103), 4 thousand and 78 Ensenada (80), one thousand and 27 in San Quintín (8), 940 in Tecate (3), 538 in Rosarito (1) and 378 in San Felipe (6).

In turn, the number of Baja Californians who have lost their lives due to this disease rose to 4 thousand 680, of which 2 thousand and 5 were from Tijuana (2 new deaths), one thousand 918 from Mexicali (8), 553 from Ensenada (9), 155 from Tecate, 26 from Rosarito, 21 from San Quintín and two from San Felipe.

However, there are still 945 active cases in the region, the majority in Mexicali (519), Tijuana (228) and Ensenada (129).

And according to what was presented by the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, 3 thousand 317 people are still suspected of having contracted the virus.

For the moment, the hospital occupation in Baja California is 68.37 percent, there are 213 beds available and also 150 ventilators. The number of patients hospitalized after being confirmed with COVID-19 as of this morning is 497.
