Although Baja California continues to run under the orange traffic light chart, mobility in the state has not diminished, according to Health Secretary Alonso Pérez Rico, who mentioned that he visited different businesses in Tijuana this weekend.
According to Pérez Rico, this mobility and the delay of patients who have symptoms of COVID-19 in the state, which arrive after six or seven days, the hospital occupation in Baja California is 56%, but specifically in the case of the Secretary of Health (SSA) it is 45% and in the Institute of Social Security (IMSS) it is 66.11%.
Today the entity has 175 intubated patients, of which 89 are in SSA hospitals and 86 in IMSS facilities.
Compared to a month ago, the region registers 70 more intubated patients due to the current virus, and this November 30th it was close to registering the same amount of people with mechanical ventilation as in its record day, which was June 27th when it totaled 191.
The Secretary of Health also pointed out that of the 184 patients hospitalized at the SSA, Tijuana's General Hospital is where most of them are, as it has 115 of this total, thus having 68.45% hospital occupancy.
He mentioned that two floors of that hospital are being remodeled, one of which (the fifth floor) will be finished this Friday, December 4, and the other (the fourth floor) will be finished in two weeks.
In the case of the IMSS hospitals, the General Hospital Zone 8, located in Ensenada, is the most affected because it has a hospital occupancy rate of 95%, so if this rate increases, Dr. Pérez Rico indicated that these patients will have to be transferred to the General Hospital of Ensenada.
With this panorama, the Secretary of Health took the opportunity to ask the population of Tijuana, Ensenada and Mexicali that "this is not the time to meet," and that only essential activities should be carried out to avoid an increase in cases.
