Hidden between chain restaurants you'll find Casa Plasencia, a cozy place that guards the culinary secret of desire.

Once inside, you'll be transported to the old world. A world that Plasencia won over the locals with Italian food, Casa Plasencia specializes in Spanish cuisine.

You'll be welcome by a warm atmosphere, dim lighting and wooden colors. On the first floor, you'll notice an open kitchen that emphasizes the trust they place on the food they create. On the second floor, you'll get a sense of a Spanish theme, especially around bullfighting, banderillas, bull heads, bullfighters' photographs and old advertisements. Something that is not out of context in Tijuana, since the city has its own bullfighting history.

If there's something we must recognize, it's their well-performed "fusion" mantra, not only in their decoration but also their menu. They manage to successfully fulfill their mission of mixing the old Mediterranean with the new one and Spain with Mexico.

From their fabadas and their traditional tapas, to their more avant-garde dishes, this restaurant has something for everyone. Doing a great pairing of the new local Mediterranean cuisine and the traditional cuisine of the old world. The quality of each dish goes hand in hand with the service, just like their mixture of traditional respect for food but pretty friendly when addressing the diner.

The drink selection is very commendable. Eating well and drinking well go hand in hand and that's something that the restaurant knows. With a large wine selection, they focus on the local product, taking advantage of their privileged position for having great access to this, adding to their mission fulfillment of mixing the old Mediterranean with the new one.

What else can be said of a restaurant that is part of a culinary institution in the city of Tijuana. Even though its reputation and name precedes it, the prices are pretty affordable.
