CANCUN - The Liga MX Draft took place on Wednesday in a hotel lobby in Cancun. This was the final day for Mexican first division teams close out transfers between themselves. Important to note that teams can still buy and sell players with teams outside of Mexico.
The draft was scheduled to end at 8:00PM local time (6:0PM pacific) but was extended to let team directors finish out last minute negotiations. The final negotiation came through at approximately 12:00AM local time (10:00PM pacific) and it was headline transfer. Club Tijuana had sold Colombian striker Duvier Riascos to Pachuca.
The Xoloitzcuitles also lost Alfredo Moreno during this draft who finished out his loan. Xolos tried to negotiate his continuance with the clubs the "owns" Moreno; Chiapas F.C. but we're unsuccessful because Chiapas owner promised Moreno to his brother's team Puebla.
Puebla will also be adding Brazilian-Mexican Leandro Agusto from Xolos on loan.
Xolos were only able to secure one addition in this Draft. The newest Xolo will be U.S. international Hercules Gomez who was bought from Santos. Gomez has the duo citizenship like many other Xolo players and will not take up a foreigner slot.
With the departure of Riascos it does open up a foreigner spot, and the Xolos will have until week 3 of the new season to negotiate any transfers coming in from outside of Mexico.
