Seeking support for immigration reform in San Diego

A rally to support humane immigration policies

The San Diego Immigrant Rights Consortium yesterday informed the community of various activities that will be taking place this week, so that this border city can show their support for the immigration reform.

The events began yesterday starting with the support for the employees from the Mission Valley Hilton, who began a hunger strike over the weekend after this institution adopted the E-Verify system to verify all of their employee's legal status. The strike ended today at 12 noon, which soon after, all of the participants then went to the San Diego city council to demonstrate their position on the immigration reform.

The San Diego Immigrant Youth Collective group will go to San Diego offices of Senator Dianne Feinstein at 5p.m., and hold a rally to support humane immigration policies.

Tomorrow as part of the "National Day of Action for Immigration Reform", immigrant rights advocates will hold a rally at 12 noon followed by a delegation visit with Senator Dianne Feinstein's office at 2 pm.  As well as other events that will be taking place around the country.

Later in the day, the Southwestern Community College District will consider a resolution in support of immigration reform at 7:00 pm.

On Thursday there will be an immigration reform forum in Linda Vista from 6-8p.m. And on Saturday the annual youth led Zapata March will be held at 10a.m. starting in Chicano Park, which will be calling for a humane immigration policy reform.
