Carl Demaio, a threat to the latin community?

Politicians and Latino community leaders question de candidate’s agenda

On Friday October 26, Councilmember David Alvarez met with active members of the Latino community. This was regarding the upcoming elections and the issues the community has with Carl Demaio with the possibility of him being the elected as Mayor of San Diego.

This is because it feels like he is a huge threat to them; Alvarez said "Demaio poses a threat to our Latino community as he has shown support for the Arizona bill SB1070 and police collaboration on immigration issues."

Even though the candidate portrays himself as a fiscal monitor, before he was elected a Councilmember in 2008, he made his fortune with government contracts way before arriving to San Diego. His campaign against a fair salary has caused many damages to many city workers, especially those who are single mothers and even have to work two jobs due to the high cost of living in San Diego.

"In the four years in the Council he never made any efforts to reach out to community members or learn about the issues facing Latinos in San Diego".

The elections are on November 6th and everything indicates that the Latino vote will be decisive in them; after all, this community is the largest minority in North America.
