UNITED STATES.- As we've already written about, there are now more non-Mexicans than Mexicans being apprehended at the country's borders, mostly due to the fact that there are now less Mexicans deciding to embark on the trip north.
In 2014, 229,000 Mexicans were apprehended, with the previous figure being 257,000 in 2013, according to a new Pew Research Center (PRC) study, which indicates the numbers decreased an 11% with regard to last year. Concerning migrants from other countries except Mexico, more than 486,000 people were arrested in the same time period.
"These numbers are drastically different from the ones in 2007, when Mexican apprehensions added up to 809,000, compared to the mere 68,000 of non-Mexicans", PCR posted.
Guatemalan, Salvadoran, Honduran and Chinese are the rampant nationalities of people that cross the border illegally, according to Migration Policy Institute data.
