This week, a video depicting soccer superstar Diego Armando Maradona apparently hitting his 24-year-old soccer player girlfriend, Rocio Oliva, circulated the internet.

Speculation that the video existed circulated the internet before the video emerged and appearing on news outlets and social media. The video with audio shows Maradona watching the TV while his girlfriend films him with her cellphone when, all of the sudden, he stands up and confronts her and talks to her. It is hard to hear what he is saying but it seems clear that he is either drunk or impaired by drugs.

Then, Maradona appears to hit Rocio a couple of times and the video cuts off at the 30 second mark.

Maradona insists that he has never hit his girlfriend, and the incident only shows him snatching the cell phone away from her. Rocio Oliva had already discussed their violent relationship but has never filed a formal complaint. Her family members have stated that this is not the first time Maradona has abused her, and they don't understand why she is still in this abusive relationship.
