Expo TlaquepArte is a cultural exchange event between Mexican and foreign artisans; an extremely diverse event that is open to public of all ages.

What will you find at Expo TlaquepArte?

In the 9th edition of Expo TlaquepArte Baja California, you'll find a great variety of handicrafts, jewelry, purses, shoes, hats, textiles, ceramics, clay, quartz, among other items.

According to organizers, artisans from 23 Mexican states will participate, the standout being the presence of exhibitors from Oaxaca, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Veracruz, Michoacan, among others. That's why you'll find several handicrafts like the ones down below:

Talavera

Talavera is a type of majolica (tin-glazed earthenware) from the states of Puebla and Tlaxcala. These pieces are made from clay and are decorated with blue and white hues, although they also exist in black, green, orange, and mauve colors, and they are representative artworks of Mexican jewelry.

Talavera is one of the most renowned handicrafts not only in Mexico, but in the world, as it was included in UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Alebrijes

Alebrijes are popular Mexican handicrafts due to their vibrant colors and elaborated details, and they are found in traditional markets and museum collections around the world.

These works of art are made of paper or carton and they are one of the most colorful expressions of Mexican popular art.

Huichol Art

This art is connected with the Huichol people, who mostly live in the state of Nayarit and part of Jalisco.

Among their works of art, the standouts are their beautiful animal figures covered in beads and their yarn paintings made on wooden boards with wax.

Tenango

The Otomí-Tepehua community in the municipality of Tenango de Doria, Hidalgo, is the home of Tenango embroidery, indigenous handicrafts that are currently some of the most popular in Mexico and the world, thanks to their colors and designs that charm anyone who sees them.

These textiles are a representation of the environment, life, myths, and rites that are replicated through time by native people.

Other works of art that you will find here are the boxes of Olinalá, Guerrero, the manta cloth of Jalisco, the famous Yucatán guayaberas, among many others.

It should be noted that there will also be products such as salsas, Mexican sweets, coffee, mole, mezcal, bee honey, tequila, and much more.

In addition, in the gastronomic area, you'll be able to try out delicious, classic Mexican dishes such as gorditas, flautas, and sopes.

Artisans from 16 other countries will come to Playas de Rosarito

On the other hand, Expo TlaquepArte will also allow visitors to witness different techniques and styles from other parts of the world.

A total of 16 countries will be part of this exhibition including Peru, Colombia, India, Turkey, Russia, Indonesia, Egypt, among others. They will offer a great variety of products, handicrafts, jewelry, costume jewelry, textiles, leather items, among other options, all under the same roof.
