On Sunday, at around 8 AM, a dramatic car accident occurred at Vía Rápida in Tijuana.
This incident happened in Vía Rápida Oriente at the level of IMSS Clínica 1. There, a white Toyota Avanza truck crashed against a Hyundai Sonata sedan and after the impact it was thrown to the Río Tijuana canalization.
The driver of this vehicle who fell into this channelized section died, and was initially identified as Simón Alberto; it was also revealed that he was an Uber driver..
During the accident, he was driving a man who did not suffer any serious injuries.
The vehicle showed heavy body and glass damages, especially on the driver’s side.
In addition, the Hyundai Sonata underwent considerable damages on its front side, but it stayed on the road. It seems that the driver of this vehicle could have been the one responsible for this incident, as such, he was arrested by the Municipal Police. This vehicle had California license plates.
The Firefighter Department of Tijuana emphasized that four people have died this weekend in car accidents.
On Saturday afternoon, a car accident at the recently inaugurated Puente de Los Olivos ended with the death of a man, aged between 55 and 60 years old, and left a woman crushed.
On Saturday night, a father lost his life after not staying on his lane during traffic and crashing against a utility pole at Terrazas del Valle. The pole fell down, damaging another car that was driving on the same road, but without harming that driver.
At 1:30 AM on Sunday, a woman driving a minor lost control of her sedan vehicle at Bulevar 2000. According to reports, she was speeding and first crashed against a metallic pole at the median strip and then against the fence of a factory at the level of Colonia Valle Bonito.
The 34-year-old woman, a Veracruz native, was transferred to the emergency room so she could be treated. The 17-year-old passenger was unharmed.
A few hours later, a sedan vehicle crashed against a retaining wall in Vía Rápida Alamar at the level of the Amazon factory. The driver was identified as 56-year-old Gerardo Ramírez who died after impact.
Inside, there was a 26-year-old who was classified as a yellow priority. There was also a 46-year-old woman, an 18-year-old young man, and a 14-year-old minor who were unharmed.
As such, the Firefighter Department of Tijuana has urged people to drive following the proper speed limits so as to not risk anyone’s lives.
