On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, Chef Danny Betancourt went to “El Poblano Otay” located at Blvd. de las Bellas Artes 17523, Garita de Otay, where he tried an asada taco and an adobada taco both priced at $1.47 dollars ($25 pesos).
The first taco that our host tried was the adobada taco which was served on two tortillas and had salsa, onion, cilantro, guacamole, and adobada pork.
Chef Danny stated that when he looked at the taco, the adobada meat did not have the classic adobada color. When he took his first bite, he proved what he had suspected. The taco did not have a good flavor, the guacamole ended up being aguamole (guacamole diluted with too much water), and the cilantro was rusty. The salsa, according to the chef’s palate, was too spicy. The only thing passable was the flavor of the tortillas, which was quite good. This, however, was not good enough and the taco got a rating of 2.2.

The asada taco has two store bought corn tortillas, carne asada (grilled beef), guacamole, onion, coriander, and red sauce.
The chef highlighted the flavor of the meat grilled in charcoal which was quite good. The tortillas had a neutral flavor, and the salsa was not very spicy. Once again, the guacamole ended up being aguamole, and it did not add any flavor to the taco. Despite the carne asada having a good flavor, this taco got a rating of 6.6.
