Cold temperatures in Baja California will continue for a while. According to a statement shared by the National Commission of Water and National Meteorological Services, a polar trough will bring a drop in temperatures as well as sleet and other meteorological conditions in the state.
According to this statement, the polar trough will bring rain, downpours, sleet, and/or freezing rain, especially in the mountains of Baja California, Sonora, and Chihuahua. It should be noted that all the forecasted rains will be accompanied by strong winds and possible electrical discharges, as well as hail.
A polar trough is caused by the intrusion of cold Arctic air, which, in turn, causes a very evident drop in temperatures. In the early Wednesday morning, temperatures in the mountainous zones of Baja California will range from -5°C (23°F) to -10°C (14°F).
In addition, starting Wednesday, December 7 a new cold front will enter through northern Mexico, interacting with the trough and bringing humidity into the area, maintaining rain and low temperature chances in Baja California.
