Groups Hiking Amigo@s Tijuana and #CLUBTIJUANA are inviting the community at large to attend the inauguration of the sign letters that will be installed spelling “Cerro Colorado”, next Thursday July 21 of this year.

The scheduled time is 6 PM with 15 minutes of tolerance at Capistrano Library. Inauguration will take place at 7 PM. It is recommended that people bring water and hiking boots or comfortable shoes for long walks.

Cerro Colorado is one of Tijuana’s iconic landmarks. It is approximately 500 meters tall, making it the city’s highest point and ideal for recreational activities such as hiking.

Due to the overpopulation that has occurred in the city, Cerro Colorado is now the city’s center.

It has likewise, due to its geography, been used for propaganda purposes, violating the city’s plurality. For example, the religious/dogmatic phrase JESUCRISTOESELSEÑOR (Jesus Christ is the Lord), and the political slogan #ESCLAUDIA can be seen in the mountain. The latter refers to the Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, as a potential presidential candidate for 2024. This is a crime, however, as electoral presidential campaign periods haven’t started.
