Don Luis Agustín Cetto, who promoted Baja California as a winemaking region worldwide, has died

One of the pioneers of Baja California’s wine industry has died at age 87

A few minutes ago, the death of Don Luis Agustín Cetto at age 87 was announced. He promoted the production of wine in the state of Baja California and strengthened one of the companies that has helped distinguish Baja Californians.

Don Luis Agustín Cetto, born in Tijuana in August 28, 1934, son of Italian immigrants, began his life by working on grape harvesting in Baja California. Years later, he would set up, along with his father, a white grape processing plant in Tecate, and a red grape processing plant in Tijuana, guaranteeing raw materials for national and international producers.

Don Luis Agustín Cetto, always loyal to his father’s tradition, consolidated his wine company’s brand, L.A. Cetto located at Valle de Guadalupe. Here, Engineer Camillo Magoni was welcomed all the way from Morbegno, Italy in 1965; a greatly talented oenologist, he quickly reached a level of maturity and success regarding winemaking processes.

Dedication and love for his land were values that characterized Don Luis Agustín Cetto during his prolific life. He always shared his vast wealth of experience on leadership, and entrepreneur vocation so that those who inherited it could themselves begin a new stage for their companies, firmly established on Mexican soil.
