Governor Marina del Pilar takes part in Women Meeting for Transformation event

Several social and political female leaders of Mexico gathered at this event

Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, Baja Californian Governor, took part this Saturday in the Women Meeting for Transformation event that is looking to strengthen the process of transformation in national public life. This even also gathered several Mexican social and political leaders.

From the Monument to the Revolution, participants at the event met to share points of view regarding progress in transformation and objectives for the future, especially regarding Mexican women’s struggles and how they have been able to chart their way to achieve their dreams.

“All of us are reunited here thanks to all women who have fought for our rights in this long journey. I am proud to be with you, women who represent and work for the hope of Mexico,” wrote Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda on her social media pages, from Mexico City.

In her speech, the Baja Californian Governor sent a message to all girls and young Mexican women. She said that they shouldn’t be made to choose to be mothers, governors, municipal mayors, representatives, housewives or presidents of Mexico, since all women can accomplish everything they wish.

“Today in Mexico we are able to be whatever we want to be: mothers and governors, and we can do this because we are women. We are daughters, mothers, sisters, we are Mexico, we are who we dream we are. On this path, we have worked together and we will continue finding each other, walking hand in hand, building and living the life that we decide,” she said.

Marina del Pilar added that, from Baja California, it is clear that a just and democratic Mexico is possible. She also said that Mexican women are not alone, since they have the support of all female officials who have managed to hold office in order to look out for women’s interests.

Senator Olga Sánchez Cordero; Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo; Guerrero Governor, Evelyn Salgado; Campeche Governor, Layda Sansores; Colima Governor, Indira Vizcaíno; Tlaxcala Governor, Lorena Cuevas; and Municipal Tecamac President, Mariela Gutiérrez, among others, were all present at the event.
