This Thursday, Baja California’s Treasury Secretary, Marco Antonio Moreno Mexia, highlighted the leadership obtained during his administration regarding national fiscal policy. This occurred after he was named Zone 1 coordinator of the Permanent Commission of Fiscal Officials, which includes the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, and Sinaloa.

The state official emphasized that this decision reflects, not only the work accomplished in his administration, but also the trust that the Government of Mexico, led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has about the state finances. In addition to this, there is a national representation in several different work groups that are key regarding fiscal matters in our country.

Recently, Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) fiscal prosecutor, Olga Alcalá Pescador, recognized the work done by the state government, especially its coordination at both state and federal levels regarding fiscal matters. This has been a distinction of the current Baja Californian administration.

The Foreign Trade Coordination, in which Baja California is affiliated with, watches over the states so they comply with the Administrative Collaboration Regarding Fiscal Matters Agreement, which, among other things, addresses the illegal introduction of foreign goods into our country.

Marco Antonio Moreno Mexia reconfirmed his commitment to work in a coordinated manner with Mexico’s Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, Rogelio Ramírez de la O, to strengthen the relevance and presence of federal entities in the development of fiscal public policies which are vital to development of both the country and the state of Baja California.

It should be noted that the National System of Fiscal Coordination that is part of the Permanent Commission of Fiscal Officials, the National Assembly of Fiscal Officials, the Technical Development of Public Finances Institute (INDETEC), and the Fiscal Coordination Board (this one belonging to Moreno Mexia) all have had a distinguished role, according to federal Mexican authorities.

Finally, the secretary emphasized that his will to contribute in the construction of an effective coordination with the federation. This is because the fundamental objective is to stimulate Baja Californian finances to sustain projects that will help bolster the development and wellbeing of everyone living in the state, while respecting the principles of the Fourth Transformation (Cuarta Transformación) in the national public sphere.
