The Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, announced the appointment of Georgina Estela Wilhelmy Woolfolk as director-general of the state's Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SCIT), as a qualified person with experience in the infrastructure field who will be able to carry out the projects that are presented to her.
The state governor noted that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's directive is to strengthen coordination between the government of Baja California and the various representations of the Mexican government in the entity and that Wilhelmy Woolfolk's arrival provides an opportunity to do so.
Similarly, Marina del Pilar emphasized Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation Jorge Arganis Daz-appointment Leal's which states that the new federal official would begin working on Monday, January 17.
Wilhelmy Woolfolk is a civil engineer from the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) and has specialized studies from the Autonomous Institute of Mexico, the National Polytechnic Institute, and the UABC itself, in addition to being an exceptional professional from Baja California.
Her work as a delegate of the National Bank of Public Works (BANOBRAS) is noteworthy, and she most recently served as Director of Public Works of the XXIII City Council of Mexicali, where she oversaw executed vital infrastructure projects for the state capital.
In a similar vein, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda noted that Georgina Estela Wilhelmy Woolfolk is the first woman in history to hold the role of Director of the Baja California SICT Center, putting her among a select group of women who have risen to prominence in recent years.
