Baja California has become the Mexican state with the highest foreign investment. This is the second time in history, the first was in 2006 when approximately 328.1 million dollars came in, while this 2021 it was achieved with 1,321 million dollars.
This information was provided by the Secretariat of Economy, who also shared that the figure obtained between April and June 2021, represented a growth of 542.1%, in addition, according to the newspaper El Economista, the most promising thing is that 81.1% of the investments are new.
The most important investors come from the United States and South Korea, which allocated US$1.24 billion and US$63 million, respectively, to the region.
This meant an increase in job creation. In fact Baja California was the largest generator of jobs in 2021; creating a total of 65 thousand 203 new positions, this was shared by the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS).
After Baja California, Mexico City, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Sonora and Zacatecas follow, while the states with the least attraction of foreign investment were Guanajuato, Hidalgo and Yucatan.
