According to the report presented yesterday morning by the head of the Secretariat of Health, Alonso Perez Rico, taking into account the suspected cases of COVID-19 studied by laboratory in the last 21 days, the third wave could have already started in Baja California.

Compared to March 27th, these cases have shown an increase since April 4th, so based on this, "we foresee that from April 4th, precisely from the 8th to the 11th, we are going to have another peak, if this peak surpasses this one from April 4th, we have a likely beginning of the third wave for us", said the Secretary.

It is expected that when the entity will have more infections as part of this third wave, it will be at the end of April and beginning of May, he said, and added that "when we reach our positive inflection point, once we reach that point, the COVID starts to shoot up and we can no longer reach it (...) and we have to take severe restrictive measures".

According to the head of this agency, in the last 24 hours 137 new cases were registered in the region, of which 50 were reported in Tijuana, 32 in Mexicali, 30 in Tecate and 25 in San Felipe. In turn, during the same period, 14 deaths were registered, 12 of which occurred in the border city, and the other two in the state capital.

Today, 45 thousand 825 Baja Californians have been infected with COVID-19 and 7 thousand 899 have lost their lives so far in the pandemic.

However, 359 cases are still active, located 169 in Mexicali, 111 in Tijuana, 43 in Ensenada, 18 in San Quintin, eight in Tecate, six in Rosarito and four in San Felipe.
