Mayor Norma Bustamante of Mexicali’s administration has managed to reduce the debt of the Institute of Social Security and Services of Government and Municipal Workers of Baja California (ISSSTECALI) inherited by previous periods.
Financial State Notes document that 420.9 million pesos was paid to this health institute at the close of the third quarter of 2024, still associated with the 24th City Hall of Mexicali.
This means that on September 30, 2024, the amount remaining of ISSSTECALI’s long-term debt was 28.2 million pesos, a feat achieved by efficient income and expense management during this current administration.
The Financial States recalled that previous administrations’ complete withholding and contribution omissions caused the historic debt that the Morena governments have made their mission to settle.
Furthermore, the Mexicali City Hall’s current public accounts revealed that the institute’s remaining debt will be settled with assets and property.
It should be noted that despite this historic debt, Mayor Norma Bustamante of Mexicali has stood out due to her good management of public finances: reducing public debt, decreasing liabilities with providers, and increasing capabilities to generate its resources. This led the municipality to receive a high credit rating from Fitch and HR Ratings.
