According to this agency, the Work Poverty Trend Index (ITLP) is a quarterly indicator that screens work income and its relation to the basic basket, i.e., the percentage of people in labor poverty.

It should be noted that Mexicali has been placed #10 among the 39 metropolitan areas that CONEVAL evaluates with its labor poverty measurement. This means the city’s percentage is one of the lowest nationwide.

In addition, this agency’s data reveal that between the third trimester of 2023 and the third trimester of 2024, labor poverty declined from 20.4% to 20%.

To conclude, since Mayor Norma Bustamente of Mexicali took office, work poverty has declined by 6.9%, from 27% in September 2021 to 20.1% on September 30, 2024.
