"Yoshi Ramen," Is the Latest in Tijuana to Offer Authentic Japanese Ramen

Asian food lovers, a new place in the city has arrived

We have good news for all those Asian food lovers: "Yoshi Ramen" opened its doors and promises the true flavor of a good Japanese Ramen.

Located right on the famous Av. Revolucion, this picturesque place set with a very Japanese style opened its doors in Tijuana with a proposal of a special recipe of ramen.

With only three days since opening, we wanted to be part of the first foodies to try this ramen, and truth be told, we were very satisfied with most aspects. This is what we found:

We were welcomed into the restaurant by the representative decoration of Japanese culture; a large flag of Japan covers the roof, small pictures of pop culture hang the wall, like pictures of Pókemon and other anime figures, and there were Bonsai trees on the tables, as well as a beautiful Kimono on one of its walls. The TVs had J-Pop videos with all the hits of the moment.

So far, due to the improvised opening, Yoshi Ramen does not have an official menu, that's why there are only two ramen options to choose from; Pork and shrimp. According to the host, the variety of dishes will increase during the week.

"Where does your recipe come from?" From Yoshi, the owner. An American with Japanese heritage, Yoshi decided to open a place in Tijuana as an extension of his parents' ramen restaurant in Beverly Hills.

A potato salad is offered in the company of the ramen of your choice.

We figured we tried the pork ramen, and if you paid a bit extra money you could have it with shrimp. As a whole, this ramen is a hearty meal that can easily be shared if you're not that hungry.

A plus is that most of its ingredients are brought from Japan, which complements the atmosphere and gives us a taste of the traditional ramen; noodles, seaweed, Naruto, species, and others.

What is maybe a bit disappointing is that there were few pieces of stewed pork in the bowl. We were actually looking forward to more, because the taste was exquisite.

The price is high compared to other places in Tijuana. A single ramen bowl will cost you $145.00 pesos, or $8.00 dlls, and includes a portion of potato salad. You can accompany the ramen with a green tea from the house, refreshing and iced for $30.00 pesos or $1.50 dlls.

It is still early to call it the best place for ramen, but it is clear that as time goes by it will offer more ramen options, and the combinations you'll be able to make will be infinite.
