A second girl was sexually attacked this week while walking in Chula Vista, bringing the number of groping incidents to 10 since September, police said Friday.
The latest incident involves a 16-year-old girl who was walking home from school about 2:50 p.m. Thursday on the 600 block of Fourth Avenue near I Street.
Police said a man ran up behind her, grabbed her buttocks, turned around and fled on foot. The girl described the attacker as a Latino man in his 20s, five-foot-eight, with a goatee, thin build and wearing a hoodie.
Chula Vista Police spokesman Bernard Gonzales said that while the incidents are similar police have various suspect descriptions and have no sketch of a possible suspect available.
Also this week, a 15-year-old girl reported that a man ran up behind her Wednesday afternoon while she was walking home from school on Palomar Street and grabbed her between the legs and ran away. She described him as a light-skinned man with black hair, wearing a T-shirt and blue jeans, police said.
The first groping incident happened Sep. 19 on Fifth Avenue and the groper was described as five foot six, 150 pounds, wearing a black hoodie.
In another attack that happened Oct. 12 on Oxford Street, the groper was described as six feet tall and 200 pounds.
The females who have been attacked range in age from 15 to 57. The attacks have become more frequent in January. Two women were groped less than hour apart last Friday.
Police are urging anyone with information about the cases to call the department at (619) 6981-5151.
