TIJUANA – Two young men were found shot to death shortly after midnight Wednesday in a residential neighborhood, state authorities announced.

The victims were identified as brothers Omar Alejandro and Adrián Vargas Gómez, who appeared to be between 20 to 25 years old. They had been shot several times and had signs of being tortured, according to a statement from the state Attorney General’s Office.

They were found at 12:55 a.m. in a gray Ford Taurus, with a California plate, parked in the upscale neighborhood of Chapultepec California, in the La Mesa district. One of the men was found in the driver’s seat, while the other was outside the car, by the passenger side.

State investigators found spent shell casings in the scene. They also found another vehicle, a black, Volkswagen Jetta, which appeared to have been used by one of the victims.
