A two-hectare park with green areas will become a new “lung” for the city of Tijuana. Following Baja California’s community development and well-being policies, a public space consisting of a group of buildings in Zona Río, facing Bulevar Paseo Centenario, has been successfully recovered.
The state government stated that the decision was made in compliance with an order from the state Judicial Branch and aims to ensure that this land returns to follow its social purpose and benefits those who need it most, creating an adequate space for Tijuana families to enjoy.

The new park will begin construction in the second half of the year on the western side of the complex. It will feature two hectares of green areas with native flora, integrate with State Government Center facilities, and include inclusive infrastructure for people with disabilities, recreational areas, and parking for over a hundred users, the state government explained.
These actions respond to the social struggle that has demanded for years that this space be dedicated to benefit the community and in alignment with the Fourth Transformation, which asserts that public spaces are not commodities but a right for the people.

Lastly, it was stressed that efforts will continue in Baja California to ensure public spaces are for the enjoyment of all by promoting urban development that goes hand in hand with social well-being and the quality of life for families.
