Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana reaffirmed his commitment to guaranteeing that art and culture are available to the public at large by prioritizing a wide variety of activities that include workshops, conferences, and tours. These activities are available through the Municipal Institute of Art and Culture (IMAC) at Casas de la Cultura in the city.
IMAC, led by Illya Haró Sánchez, revealed that enrollments are still open for semestral workshops for children (starting at 2 years of age), teenagers, and adults. Some of the courses offered are:
Scenic Arts: children’s theater, dance (tap, pre-ballet, classic ballet, hall dance, African, folkloric, and Polynesian dances, contemporary dance, body expressions, jazz, tango, Arabic, flamenco, hip-hop).
Visual and Plastic Arts: Comics and manga, ceramics, clay, arts and crafts, creative restoration of furniture, engraving, artistic drawings, artistic expressions for teenagers, analog, digital, and experimental photography, introduction to screen printing, watercolor, artistic collages, sculpture, and mixed techniques.
Music: introduction to music, accordion, trumpet, ukulele, tololoche, keyboards, classic, popular, and electric guitar, drums, electric bass, violin, and piano, plus single and choir singing, comprehensive music (theory, harmony, drums), among others. English and Japanese classes will also be taught.
For physical well-being, several Casas de la Culture are offering yoga classes (hatha, vinyasa, flow, therapeutic), tai chi, Pilates, mobility for adults, kung fu, and much more!
Furthermore, IMAC is organizing several tours—including at Tijuana’s History Museum—that will take place from Tuesday through Saturday with free admissions. The “Archivo Abierto a Consulta” program is also available from Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5:30 PM and allows one to have access to the photo, newspaper, and private collection archives.

The Municipal Network of Public Libraries, also part of the 25th City Hall, is offering activities such as “Hora del Cuento” (Children’s Story Time) from Monday through Friday and “Ayuda con las Tareas” (Help with Homework), a space to support children in elementary school. Admissions for both are free.
At Benito Juárez Library, the Rubén Darío Luna Newspaper Archive is featuring “Club de Lectura de Noticias” (News Reading Club) from Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 11 AM, a space to discuss and analyze current news to foster critical thinking and debate. Plus, guided tours will take place starting at 8 AM to explore the archive and the library’s services.
The “Mejor que en la Televisión” (Better Than TV) showcases the bibliography of authors whose artworks have been adapted to the screen and it is available from 8 AM to 3 PM at the Benito Juárez Library.
The 25th City Hall of Tijuana reaffirms its commitment to enrich the cultural and educational life of the Tijuana community. These activities not only foster access to art and culture, but also aim to promote personal development and offer learning spaces for all ages.
