The 25th City Hall, led by Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana, continues to boost initiatives to transform the city. Through effective public policies, actions designed to improve the quality of life of all Tijuana’s families—addressing their needs and promoting collective well-being—are being implemented.

At Thursday’s Morning Press Conference, heads of several different municipal agencies revealed the actions they have carried out aimed at providing well-being to all citizens.

During his speech, Secretary of Mobility Apolinar Fernández Álvarez pointed out that trained road assistants have been working in the city. As such, road traffic has sped up in 17 strategic spots in the city and other areas through operations coordinated with the Municipal Traffic and Road and Transportation Agencies.

For his part, the Secretary of Territory, Urban, and Environmental Development, Virginia Vargas González, explained the progress made regarding pothole repair on asphalt pavement in several spots in the city, among them the Downtown, Playas de Tijuana, and Cerro Colorado delegations. Plus, maintenance in green areas and garbage recollection in homes that were affected by the city’s recent fires have also taken place.

Meanwhile, Municipal Treasurer Víctor Ramos Gómez revealed a positive balance regarding tax collection due to recent property tax payments. Just in January, 688,433,4545 pesos and 164,253 insurance policies have been received from taxpayers.

All of this is a result of people’s commitment to Tijuana’s development, with the guarantee that each peso given will, in turn, result in better services, infrastructure, and security for the population at large.

Secretary of Well-Being Erik Morales Elvira highlighted some of the actions carried out by his agency, including psychological counseling and donations of food, groceries, clothes, blankets, among others, for the people affected by the Santa Ana fires.

In addition, the Municipal Directorate of Civil Protection, led by José Luis Jiménez González, explained the updating of the city’s Risk Atlas. This is a document that aims to integrate information on the land and the dangers that could affect people, while also functioning as a tool to better plan the city’s development and contribute to decision-making to reduce natural disaster risks.
