Through the Secretariat of Economic Development (SEDETI), Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana’s administration is implementing several measures to support and promote Tianguis Turístico 2025, an event that will showcase Tijuana as a premier world class destination while Baja California hosts this major event.
This effort follows work meetings attended by the mayor of Tijuana, spearheaded by Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, aimed at refining the necessary details for the successful execution of Tianguis Turístico 2025.
As such, the head of SEDETI Pedro Montejo Peterson highlighted key initiatives, including support for organizing the Taco Festival, ensuring proper financial and operational management of the event.

This involves securing necessary permits and procedures, guaranteeing compliance with regulations, and streamlining logistics to provide attendees with a pleasant experience.
To promote Tianguis Turístico 2025, a visibility strategy has been implemented, featuring billboards and large-scale advertisements in key city locations. Thanks to SEDETI’s efforts, strategic spaces have been secured to maximize the event’s visual exposure.
Montejo Peterson noted that, in collaboration with the Secretariat of Territorial, Urban, and Environmental Development (SDTUA), inspections were carried out to identify and restore urban areas affected by graffiti or deterioration.
Work focused on tourist-heavy and high-traffic zones, prioritizing cleaning, restoration, and general maintenance.

Additionally, a project to renew tourist signage in Tijuana’s Districts 1 and 3 will be implemented, along with reforestation initiatives to make urban spaces more beautiful.
Secretary Pedro Montejo also mentioned that to improve traffic flow and reduce wait times at the Otay Mesa Fast Lane, an expansion is underway which will extend it to 400 meters. The project is in its first phase, with approximately 80 meters already completed.
These combined efforts will strengthen the city’s urban infrastructure, enhance the tourist experience, and position Tijuana as a top-tier destination ready to host Tianguis Turístico 2025.
