Following close interinstitutional coordination with U.S. authorities, the Municipal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPCM), together with the Tijuana Municipal Police, successfully arrested Kane “N,” an individual wanted for his alleged involvement in sexual crimes.

This arrest clearly reflects Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana’s instructions to strengthen security and ensure that those who generate violence cannot evade justice.

The operation was made possible through the joint efforts of security agencies from both countries—the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) and CBP (Customs and Border Protection)—who provided key information about the suspect’s presence in Tijuana.

Authorities from both sides of the border initiated an information exchange that led to his swift location and arrest once it was known for certain that Kane “N” was attempting to evade justice by hiding in the city.

Once detained, the accused was handed over to the National Migration Institute and then to CBP agents.

SSPCM reaffirms its commitment to continue working hand in hand with national and international authorities to ensure that criminals are taken off the streets and face justice, regardless of borders.

Daouda Kane was scheduled to stand trial on November 18 at the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas. As previously mentioned, he was accused of four counts of rape against a 5-year-old child, incidents that occurred in January 2024.

Escape to Tijuana

Court records from Franklin County show that Kane was released from police custody after posting a $200,000 bail in February. After failing to appear for his trial, an arrest warrant was issued against him, adding a charge for fleeing the country after it was discovered he had crossed into Mexico. If found guilty, he could face life in prison.

On December 8, the FBI received a call reporting that Kane and a woman were in a shelter in Tijuana, Mexico and had asked a religious figure to marry them.

When questioned about his presence there, the individual told shelter workers that he “no longer liked the United States” and had left his family to go to Mexico, including his wife.
