As part of the Respiremos Verde (Let’s Breathe Green) program, Tijuana’s local government, led by Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, has planted more than 160 trees across several locations in the city since February. This effort is part of a broader strategy to create greener and more sustainable urban areas for the community.
The initiative focuses on expanding green spaces in communities that need them most, while also fostering environmental awareness among children, youth, and adults.

Reforestation activities are carried out weekly, following studies to identify areas that need trees the most. Additionally, workshops are offered to residents on proper planting techniques, care, and maintenance of the newly planted trees.

Some of the communities that have benefited from Respiremos Verde include Villas del Álamo, Hacienda Los Venados, Natura, Delicias, Tijuana Progreso, and Maclovio Rojas. Some of the tree species planted are casuarina pine, benjamina, acacia, and Brazilian peppertree.
The government of Tijuana reaffirms its commitment to citizens by promoting environmental preservation and conservation. As part of this effort, officials are urging residents to stay vigilant in protecting these public spaces and to report any environmental concerns through the Botón Verde (Green Button) app.
