As part of the Economic Support Program for Families Caring for People with Disabilities, the Tijuana government, under Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, in partnership with the local Department of Welfare and DIF, delivered 102 checks, each worth 1,500 pesos, to assist numerous households.

Tijuana’s Secretary of Welfare, Erik Morales, oversaw the distribution of these checks and highlighted the dedication and effort involved in caring for a person with a disability.

Morales stressed that the Tijuana City Council, under a humanistic approach, promotes various social programs aimed at benefiting the citizens, prioritizing those most in need.

“We acknowledge the hard work of those who care for people with disabilities through a support program managed by the local DIF. We understand the enormous responsibility this entails,” said Morales.

Paola Leyva Izaguirre, director of DIF Tijuana, highlighted the government’s ongoing commitment to the families of Tijuana by providing financial assistance to cover essential expenses, including personal hygiene items, transportation, and other needs.

Leyva Izaguirre added that DIF Tijuana runs various programs aimed at ensuring the well-being of the most vulnerable populations. The agency, she noted, provides services that improve quality of life, while working to reduce social inequality.
