Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, Mayor of the City of Tijuana, is strengthening preventive and operational actions that contribute to create peace and harmony in the city. This is being achieved by providing equipment and technology for the Municipal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, which is one of the municipal president’s main commitments.
This initiative has been established as part of one of the guiding principles of the Municipal Development Plan, Tijuana Pacífica: Citizen Prevention and Protection.
The plan is structured around five guiding principles: Tijuana Fraterna e Inclusiva: Well-Being for All; Tijuana Formadora y Talentosa: Science and Technology; Tijuana Pacífica: Citizen Prevention and Protection; Tijuana Próspera: Sustainable Economic Development; Tijuana Moderna: Infrastructure and Mobility; and a Cross-Cutting Pillar: Tijuana Transformada.
In terms of security, a multi-year contract for the comprehensive leasing of 431 vehicles is planned, aiming to increase the number of patrol cars in the city and reinforce the presence of authorities on the streets. This will allow for a faster and more efficient response in case of emergencies.

Additionally, to improve surveillance and control in the city, a plan will be implemented to expand and modernize the video surveillance system, which currently operates at 502 strategic points throughout the city.
The Municipal Government announced that the installation of 4,244 additional cameras is planned through this multi-year contract that will expand and modernize the video surveillance system.
It is estimated that the total number of cameras will increase to reach 6,366 by the end of this year, which will be distributed across 1,506 strategic locations. This will allow them to increase surveillance to cover 65% of Tijuana’s population, compared to the current 35%.
This system will not only contribute to crime prevention but also improve traffic monitoring, crowd control, and security in public spaces, providing greater coverage and a more efficient response to any eventuality.
With these actions, the 25th City Hall of Tijuana continues to work towards ensuring a safer, more modern, and better-prepared city for the benefit of the community.
