Coinciding with World Book Day, the government of Tijuana, in coordination with the Department of Culture, the Tijuana Bookstores Union, and the Trompo Interactive Museum, announced on Wednesday the 40th edition of the Tijuana Book Fair.
The event will take place from June 6 to 15 at the Trompo Museum, marking the first time this cultural venue hosts the much-anticipated literary gathering for locals and visitors alike.
This edition of the Tijuana Book Fair will feature a schedule packed with activities, not only at the museum but also at cultural centers and libraries in town. According to authorities, this edition is designed to promote reading and create platforms for dialogue and reflection.
Illya Haro Sánchez, Tijuana’s Secretary of Culture, informed that the city will allocate 4 million pesos to ensure this summer’s book fair is an event worthy of national attention.
Leading the ceremony were Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, Trompo Museum Director María del Rosario Ruiz Camacho, and Vladimir López Ontiveros, President of the Tijuana Bookstores Union.
López Ontiveros shared that this year’s fair will include a wide artistic program, with book presentations and the participation of local and national exhibitors.
Mayor Burgueño Ruiz highlighted the power of reading as a tool for social growth and reaffirmed his administration’s ongoing commitment to the cultural sector.
“The support we’ll continue to give to arts and culture will be historic,” he stated.
