The City Hall led by Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana, through the Directorate of Environmental Protection, urged citizens to avoid entering the ocean in the city’s beaches to prevent risks due to poor water quality.
This recommendation stems from the results of the assessment carried out by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS), which indicated the presence of the enterococcus faecalis bacteria, making the city’s beaches unsuitable for recreational use.

It is important to note that contact with this bacteria poses a risk to the population, as it can cause gastrointestinal illnesses, as well as infections of the skin, eyes, ears, and respiratory tract, as it indicates the presence of more dangerous pathogens.
For this reason, the 25th City Hall of Tijuana has decided to cordon off the beach area and install signage through the appropriate channels. COFEPRIS will not issue a new assessment results until May.

The Municipal Government calls on citizens to contribute to beach care through preventive actions and to follow instructions to avoid contact with the coastal waters, preventing illnesses or infections that could endanger public health.
