Luis Fernando González Vergara, head of the Department of Urban Development and Services (SDSU), shared details about the work carried out on Popotla Boulevard, including pothole repairs to ensure a smooth driving surface, fresh road markings, landscaping, mural restoration, and other significant enhancements to the route leading to Puerto Nuevo.

This iconic area, he emphasized, is home to the Puerto Nuevo Museum, a new cultural venue that will host various art exhibitions for visitors to enjoy.

“These crucial roads will be fully ready to welcome the participants and attendees of the anticipated Tianguis Turístico. In this initial phase of work on Popotla Boulevard, we focused on thorough cleaning, the removal of old, damaged paint, precise lane markings, and the application of a sealant before laying down durable thermoplastic paint at the intersections on both the northern and southern sides,” he noted.

As for Benito Juárez Boulevard, the city’s main thoroughfare, municipal staff have completed a full repaving of the road markings to enhance safety and traffic flow. They also carried out aesthetic pruning of the trees along road dividers and installed banners for the Tianguis Turístico, creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere.

Thanks to an initiative from the Municipal Institute of Art and Culture (IMAC), renowned urban artist Mode Orozco has created stunning pavement art at several intersections, adding beauty to the urban environment and offering a visual welcome to visitors.

González Vergara assured that the rehabilitation works will be completed before the start of the significant binational event. He also mentioned that some complementary tasks were scheduled to resume during the first week of May, once the Tianguis Turístico has concluded.
