During her morning conference on Thursday, Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda revealed key details about the 49th edition of the Tianguis Turístico, set to take place from April 28 to May 1. This renewed event will mark the first-ever binational version, with participation from the cities of Rosarito, Tijuana, and San Diego.

The governor was joined by Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, head of Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, along with Mayor Rocío Adame of Playas de Rosarito, who highlighted the collaboration between the three levels of government to ensure a memorable event.
“Rosarito is ready to showcase its cuisine, tourist attractions and cultural richness. We are fully committed to welcoming thousands of visitors,” Adame said.

Ismael Burgueño, Mayor of Tijuana, echoed this sentiment, sharing his enthusiasm for the city’s participation.
“We have so much to offer—talented artists, incredible cuisine, including the best tacos in the world, and Avenida Revolución, a historic landmark of our city. We are ready to exceed expectations,” he affirmed.

What to Expect from Tianguis Turístico 2025?
Governor Ávila Olmeda announced that over 775 companies from 35 countries and more than 1,150 buyers are expected to participate. For the first time in the event’s history, binational activities will be organized in collaboration with San Diego authorities.
“We want Mexicans living in the United States to cross over for this Tianguis Turístico. Now more than ever, it is important to remember that we are a united region, a sister community,” the governor stated.

Additionally, the Secretary of Tourism confirmed that a special edition of the National Lottery ticket will be issued for the event. With an estimated economic impact of 1.3 billion pesos, Tianguis Turístico 2025 is expected to be one of the most significant tourism events in the region.
The official venue, the Baja California Center, will host specialized conferences and workshops on topics such as:
- Big data: analyzing data to create opportunities
- Community tourism: traveling with indigenous communities
- Mayan communities in action: ecotourism in the Sian Ka’an reserve
- Social media management: maximizing engagement for personalized travel experiences
A major industry roundtable will also take place, featuring state governors and their respective tourism secretaries, along with two panels focused on community tourism and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
