With the arrival of the Easter break, the government of Tijuana, through the local Department of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPCM) and the Fire Department, issued a series of recommendations for those planning to visit swimming areas in order to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of Tijuana’s families.

Rafael Carrillo Venegas, head of the Fire Department, emphasized that to avoid incidents, it is crucial for people visiting beaches, water parks, or swimming pools in the coming days to follow these guidelines:
- Always obey lifeguard instructions—they know the hazardous areas and conditions.
- Keep children under constant supervision—never let minors or inexperienced swimmers alone.
- Do not let intoxicated people enter the water, regardless of the depth.
- Do not swim in dams, streams, canals, or ponds, as these are unsafe for recreational activities.
Additionally, authorities reminded the public that Tijuana’s beaches remain temporarily closed due to poor water quality.

However, if traveling outside the city:
- Avoid cliffs, caves, or hazardous coastal areas—sudden rising tides could trap you.
- If a beach is closed to the public, comply with the restriction.
The government of Tijuana also urges citizens to keep beaches clean by disposing trash in designated bins. People are encouraged to follow these measures and report any emergencies by calling 911 or using SSPCM’s mobile apps.
