Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente didn't get the result it was looking for but at least one local soccer team finished with favorable results this past weekend.

The Xolos lost in the Mexican Liga de Ascenso final to Irapuato. It kept the Xolos from their promotion to the first division.

But perhaps the San Diego Flash's win could serve as consolation for local soccer junkies.

The Flash of the National Premier Soccer League won again. The Flash beat defending champion the Sacramento Gold 3-1 Sunday at Westview High.

Larry Emeanua scored in the sixth minute while Nelson Pizarro and Ladule LoSarah also scored for the Flash. Emeanua also had an assist, feeding Pizarro for a 2-0 Flash lead in the 22nd minute.

The Flash (5-2) took control of possession for most of the first half but had some trouble trying to maintain the same level of attack in the second half.

Sacramento created several scoring opportunities in the second half with Abraham Prado scoring for the Gold in the 51st minute.

Flash goalkeeper Justin Meyers helped keep the Gold from scoring with a handful of saves along with a stifling defense.

The Gold (2-2-2) also had a goal disallowed after a handball foul was called on the scoring play.

The Flash hosts Rattlers FC of Lancaster May 22 at Westview High.

It is another story for the other San Diego NPSL soccer club.

San Diego Boca FC went on the road for two matches only to return with back-to-back loses.

Coach Eliseo "Papo" Santos' team lost to 3-1 to the Santa Ana Wind FC Saturday and lost to Hasental FC 2-1 on Sunday.

Boca FC has now lost five of its last six matches since starting the 2011 campaign 2-0.

Santos made some changes to its roster by adding four players in late April. That resulted into a 5-3 win against Hollywood United May 1 but Boca FC has since had trouble finding a rhythm.

Boca will try to bounce back this week when it hosts Rattlers FC of Lancaster Saturday at Balboa Stadium.

The Xolos will also get another shot at redemption with a two-game playoff against, you guessed it, Irapuato. This time there is no safety net. Win and the Xolos are in the first division. Lose, and it might be a while before they get another shot.
