The government led by Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana has issued an alert regarding the forecast of Santa Ana winds in the city with wind gusts exceeding 70 kilometers per hour in high altitude areas, which could occur on Thursday, February 27.
The head of the Municipal Directorate of Civil Protection, José Luis Jiménez González, stated that according to weather forecasts, the Santa Ana condition would affect the city during Thursday morning and afternoon. It is expected to be mild to moderate in the city’s urban areas, while in high altitude zones, it could increase from moderate to strong.
“We are still evaluating how this Santa Ana condition could impact us. So far, we know that in high altitude areas, wind gusts could exceed 70 kilometers per hour,” said Jiménez González.
The 25th City Hall of Tijuana urges the public to take precautions, such as avoiding burning trash during this condition. Additionally, they call on residents to report any wind-related incidents to emergency number 911 to prevent major incidents and safeguard the lives of citizens and their property.
