At the morning press conference that took place on Thursday, February 20, the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, highlighted the importance of strengthening coordination with the municipality of Tijuana and the willingness of Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, Mayor of the City of Tijuana, to join forces.
President Sheinbaum announced that she will soon meet with the mayor to establish a stronger cooperation strategy, particularly on issues related to reducing impunity. Additionally, she mentioned that Baja Californian Governor Marina del Pilar is also committed to these efforts. As a result, a meeting is planned to address key issues related to security and governance.
Meanwhile, Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila highlighted the federal government’s support in matters of security and the deployment of additional National Guard agents to the state.
“We recognize President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo for sending additional National Guard forces to our state. Coordination has allowed us to reduce crime rates, particularly high-impact crimes. The goal is to build lasting peace, and we will not rest until we achieve it,” the governor said.

For his part, the mayor reaffirmed the importance of coordination among the three levels of government. Through an official statement, he emphasized that this collaborative work is already yielding results through concrete actions focused on the well-being of citizens.
In addition, Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana thanked President Sheinbaum for her recognition, as she highlighted the progress made in coordination with the municipality during her morning press conference. Similarly, he reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening security efforts.
It should be noted that one of the most important projects is the “Corazones” Program, which launched simultaneously in all Baja Californian municipalities this Wednesday. This collaborative effort involves the participation of all mayors and state officials.
