Tijuana authorities installed road checkpoints at the San Ysidro and Otay ports of entry, providing 655 instances of assistance in March alone, a clear reflection of Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz’s positive impact.
Pedro Montejo Peterson, head of Tijuana’s Department of Economic Development (SEDETI), explained that these checkpoints operate 24/7, offering services such as surveillance, roadside assistance, basic medical care, and information.

Additionally, bilingual staff are available to assist users in their language, ensuring efficient and accessible service for all. This measure has improved traffic flow and safety at the ports of entry, enhancing the experience for people driving through these areas.
During March, 568 incidents were addressed at the San Ysidro port of entry, including vehicle-related issues such as overheating, tire and battery failures, and basic medical cases like colds and pain. Commercial complaints and other minor problems were also handled.

Meanwhile, 87 assistance services were recorded at the Otay port of entry, reflecting the importance of this service in both border areas. One of the most requested forms of assistance was facilitating U-turns, primarily due to drivers mistakenly entering Ready Lane and SENTRI lanes.
The 25th City Hall of Tijuana remains committed to improving the safety and well-being of its citizens and visitors. Initiatives such as these aim to make ports of entry more efficient and provide necessary assistance to those in need, ensuring safe crossings with no issues.
