Mexicali’s Historic Downtown became the epicenter of Chinese New Year celebrations, with over 25,000 people attending the “Wood Snake Festival.” At this event, local and international visitors enjoyed a colorful and traditional show featuring artistic performances, iconic dances, and exquisite gastronomy that highlighted the cultural wealth of the city’s Chinese community.

Mayor Norma Bustamante of Mexicali led the event and highlighted the wide variety of entertainment offerings in the capital of Baja California: “This event promotes the cultural wealth of Mexicali and is part of the available activities that tourists can partake in during the Caribbean Series.”

This 7-hour festival offered a wide variety of activities for all tastes. The event included a parade, an extensive artistic program with dances, audiovisual projections, music, and martial arts demonstrations. Attendees were also able to purchase souvenirs and enjoy a variety of traditional Asian dishes.
