The Mexicali Government has intensified operations in several areas of the municipality to ensure compliance with public cleaning regulations to build a more orderly city.
Mayor Norma Bustamante of Mexicali reported that the administration has issued 960 fines for violations related to public cleanliness from October 2024 to January 2025.
The main cause of penalties (416 fines) was trash accumulation on properties. These fines range from 10 to 200 UMAS (Units of Measurement and Update), depending on the number of cubic meters of waste found on-site.

Furthermore, during operations carried out under the 24th City Hall, over 12,000 penalties for violations of public cleanliness regulations have been issued.
Mayor Norma Bustamante called on citizens to keep the front of their homes or businesses clean and encouraged them to report issues by calling 072 or through the Mexicali Government’s social media channels.
“Uniendo Esfuerzos Por Tu Colonia”: Program Aimed at Improving the Quality of Life for Mexicali Residents
Recently, Mayor Norma Bustamante of Mexicali led the “Uniendo esfuerzos por tu colonia” (Uniting Efforts for Your Neighborhood) operation at Fraccionamiento Paseos del Sol, which aims to improve the quality of life for Mexicali families.
Through this community outreach initiative, the mayor spoke with residents about their primary needs and highlighted that maintenance work—repairing streetlights, installing signage, filling potholes, and cleaning public spaces in priority areas—is being carried out.
