Mayor Rocío Adame Seeks to Solve Water Crisis in Cañón Rosarito

The administration led by Mayor Rocío Adame of Rosarito prioritizes finding solutions that benefit residents.

Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz of Playas de Rosarito participated in a second meeting with residents of Cañón Rosarito, Cañón Alisitos, and Cañón Arroyo Huahuatay to address the water crisis. The meeting included active participation from state and federal authorities, such as the National Water Commission (Conagua), the Tijuana State Public Services Commission (CESPT), and Baja California’s Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development.

“We know what the problem is, and we are here to find a solution. Everyone has a role to play, it’s not just the government’s responsibility,” emphasized the mayor, while underscoring the importance of collaboration between authorities and citizens to achieve tangible results.

Mayor Rocío Adame of Rosarito reaffirmed her personal commitment to the issue, announcing her willingness to engage with the federal government in Mexico City to open doors and secure support from the proper authorities. She added that one of her administration’s priorities is to review permits to clear pits, seeking effective and legal solutions to this long-standing problem.

“Our commitment is firm, and we will continue working hand in hand with the community to resolve the region’s challenges,” CESPT General Director Jesús García stated, highlighting that the agency’s priority is finding effective solutions for residents.

Similarly, Armando Esquivel, President of the Ejido Mazatlán Commission in Playas de Rosarito, thanked the attention given to the issue and stressed that this situation not only harms farmers and ranchers in Cañón Rosarito but also negatively impacts the entire population. Therefore, finding a solution is of vital importance for collective well-being.

As a result of the meeting, it was agreed that an inspection of the affected area to document, through photographic evidence, any potential illegal or clandestine flows will be carried out. The information gathered will be crucial in compiling a detailed report to support future actions.

Through these efforts, the Playas de Rosarito City Hall, in coordination with state and federal authorities, reaffirms its commitment to listen to and address citizens’ demands and work together to ensure quality of life and well-being for all Rosarito natives.
